VICTIMS

Vindicate Victims advocates for legal and child welfare reform in Nevada to protect parents who are victims of domestic violence from being held accountable for their abuser’s actions and to prevent the unjust removal of children from safe, loving caregivers.

THE ISSUE

Failure to protect laws were established to safeguard children from neglect, but in Nevada, their enforcement often penalizes children and
non-offending parents who report domestic violence they did not cause, consent to, or have any control over. These laws allow child welfare agencies to undermine a victim’s effort to achieve safety and peace for their family by separating children from their protective caregiver and subjecting them to the trauma, instability, and isolation of foster care.
